Power is no more confined to a specific class of a society. The power is now diffused to the common people in variant ways. The substantial part of a society which holds and multiplies the growth of a society is the young cohort. Bangladesh is no exception to that. Media plays a momentous role in establishing and empowering the youths of this country with a positive boosting and a lot of generic platforms. Social media holds the initial edge of the spectrum.
Social media is one of the most powerful podiums of this country for the last few years. According to a report, there were 1.5 Crore active social media users in Bangladesh in January 2016. And, youths of this country take the lion share of this massive amount. Definitely, number talks and shows a strong extent where social media has reached with the diverse growth of internet in this country.
Among the social media sites, Facebook is the most popular of all. Besides, Instagram, WhatsApp, Viber, Imo, Twitter, and some other blogging site are in the list. Those who want to match their social media with professional flavors use LinkedIn.
Though social media is still in the learning stage in the country, youths use social media for different purposes. Connectivity is the main aspect of social media these days among youths. Educational, social movement, entertainment, and many business goals are achieved through social media as well.
Social media also endures some negative vibes. Many youths spend their time in social media fruitlessly. Fraud, financial and social harassment, politicizing, and many other crimes are common aspects of social media. Excessive social media dependence creates emotional and social instability, which has become a great concern for many psychologists in this country.
